Frequently Asked Questions

What areas does Physio on the Go service?

We service the CBD, Bayside, Eastern and South Eastern regions of Melbourne, as well as part of the Mornington Peninsula. See our Location List to find out if we service your area.

 How long are treatment sessions?

Initial consultations are generally 60 minutes long, during which our experienced physiotherapists will conduct a full assessment of functionality and devise a treatment plan. Follow up visits, where we will measure your progress and adjust your plan, range from 40-60 minutes depending on your condition.

How much do you charge for a consultation?

Our fees are based on a number of factors, including: the number of areas that require treatment, the type of treatment required and the distance travelled to your home.

Can I claim from my Private Health Insurance?

Most health fund providers offer rebates for physiotherapy under extras cover. Because each policy and provider is different, we cannot provide you with an out of pocket estimate. Please contact your health fund directly to find out how much you will get back.

Are the Physiotherapists at Physio on the Go trustworthy and reliable?

Absolutely. As domiciliary Physiotherapists, our patients' safety and peace of mind are always our upmost priority. All of our staff have undergone National Police Checks (NPC) and are carefully screened to ensure you are being provided the highest quality of treatment and professionalism.

Can I claim for Physio on the Go's services from Medicare?

If your GP has referred you under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Program, you will receive a rebate from Medicare. Please contact Medicare for information regarding rebate amounts.

How do I pay for my Physiotherapy treatment?

Physio on the Go ask that you pay at the end of your Physiotherapy consultation. We accept cash, cheque or bank transfer payment methods.

Are your Physiotherapists always on time? We schedule appointments to best suit you and pride ourselves on being prompt. However, due to the personalised nature of our service and the variability in consultation times, we do run late from time to time. If we are running late, we will always call ahead to let you know.
How long will I have to wait before a Physiotherapist can visit me?

We always respond to new queries within 24 hours and prefer to see new patients within a couple of days. If treatment is urgently required, we will endevour to see you within 24 hours with the option of scheduling an after-hours consultation.

Does Physio on the Go accept Department of Veterens Affairs (DVA) clients?

Yes. Patients with a Gold Card are fully funded by DVA, with no out-of-pocket cost to you. Contact us to schedule an appointment today.

Do I need a Doctor's referral to receive treatment from my home?

No, private patiens do not need referrals from Doctors to receive treatment.

However, if you have recently had surgery or have a complex medical condition, we suggest obtaining a written discharge summary of your current condition from someone in your healthcare team, be it Surgeon, Doctor, Hospital Physiotherapist or Nurse. This helps our Physiotherapists to better tailor treatment to your specific healthcare needs.

What can I expect from my first consultation?

During your initial consultation we will discuss your medical history and assess your current condition. From there, we will work with you to devise a treatment plan to help you meet your short-term and long-term goals.

To assist us in preparing for your treatment and devising a relevant therapy plan, we like to gather as much information as possible during your first consultation. If you have any relevant X-rays and/or correspondence from Surgeons, Doctors or Physiotherapists, please have these ready for us to look at.

Can I book a consultation on a weekend or outside of standard work hours?

Our standard hours of operation are from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Weekend and out-of-hours consultations are also available in certain circumstances.

Please contact us if you require treatment outside of our standard hours of operation and we will endeavour to arrange a time that suits you.
